Waht a Gwaan! Greetings from Jamaica

Hey i’m in Mandaville Jamaica at a sweet hotel. The paths between rooms are cement with this oil based paint that makes water form in droplets and not evaporate very fast, so we have been slipin sliding around on it all night for fun…

Spent 5 hours in a cab with a taxi driver who used to be a preacher driving to meet up with the team. Dude was legit.

Spent 4 days building 2 full skatepark setups in this shed at the compound we stayed at, then transported the ramps to a local private school. We set up all the ramps for the festival, which happened saturday and continues this afternoon.

I feel out of place being one of 10 white dudes in this country. People are very forward, there is no driving law, every road is only one lane going both ways full of potholes the size of the grand canyon and reggae is THE ONLY music people respect… haha. Pretty gnar.

I’m learning Patwua, the native slang which is a jumble jarbled mix of English and lots of warped vowel sounds.

I’m stoked to be with the team- Jud, Tom, Jared, Uriel, Jon, Vic, Joey, Stephen King, Mark J., and our helper/translator Jermaine.

Tonight, in 22 hours… I’ll be at the airport trying not to buy a magazine for the planeride…as is my custom when i travel. Skate mags are my crack…

So i’ll be testing out my new Skullcandy headphones, the “Smokin’ Buds” ones. It would have been appropriate to get the rasta colored ones, since i’m going on a trip. but i somehow forgot and just walked away with these all black babys. 

TO DO’s *laundry, *church tomorrow with my Former boss in attendance (God willing.) He’s radical and has blessed me with lots of support and promotion. *Then a hunt for the best phone deal. (Today i almost got trapped into TMobile when they took me in after the AT&T dudes were mean to me. Luckily, my mommy convinced me on the phone to walk away without a 2 year contract…)

SO any phone deal suggestions? Verizon seems to be popular these days… I’m over AT&T.

Journaling Life Update

I need to keep blogging, but i don’t want to put work into it if no one gets blessed or affected. But i’ll just plug away even if it all goes unseen, cause i find a parallel in this scenario to the habit of living a God-honoring life in the dark, or outside of the public.
