at the skatepark is where i spend most of my days. Skatin all fast on my BirthDAY with some dudes, and all shreddin some ledges in the backside of my school. I wore my pants too tight and my friends got scared, they said “You look like corey duffel and you’re losing your hair.”
So I pulled a windmill revolution at the demo saturday and they yelled through the microphone Yo HOMIE what’s that trick named?
I shook up the kingdom of steez and of flair and i type at my throne, my office desk chair…
HAHAHAHAH.
It’s my birthday! i start the 22nd year of my life on this planet at 9pm tonight.
CATALYST!
Had a man party at the house tonight and any pastor or close adult mentor who has influenced me that i know was there to offer guidance, advice and prayer. We talked till 10 and also prayed for my mommy, who made the best tasting dinner of all time.
Our College Bible Study leader Aaron scheduled us all to go downtown in Denver and hand out Hamburgers and water to the homeless and pray for them last night.
We did. We met a few fun characters and people with really injured lives. To Chrissy’s surprise, the filthy giant black brother with the big smile didn’t mind that she’d already drunk half of the starbucks I offered him. He was stoked for more than water i suppose.
We met one dude who refused prayer then right as we walked away started firing off all kinds of prayers in tongues! That surprised me and I thought to myself… Oh yeah, people can be warriors for the Lord and live in the park downtown.
After another interaction between a few of us and a brother named Marcus, who played the guitar with passion and power at the foot of one of the tallest buildings in Denver,
we all regrouped and agreed that God used our little naive suburban church group to extend his provision, and His care to some fellow Earth-dwellers who may have been covered in dirt, but were no less loved in God’s eyes than us.
Right when everyone split up, i went to 7Eleven for some snackage and upon exiting the thriving convenient store, God blessed me with the highlight of the night. I was standing with some friends, and saw a girl my age with pink hair and some ragged garments frantically running to each trash can, peeking inside, and then scurrying a little more desperately to the next.
Hands full of food, i immediately ditched my compadres and skated after her.
Her name is Britney and she’s a 21 year old mommy from West VA. Her boyfriend waited a few blocks up the street with their little one named Miles. Miles is 2 years old and was born while their group was train hopping across the country.
Covered in dust and all unshaven, this family let me stay and talk with them for the next 4 hours. I was blessed for once to have enough money to buy us all some food, so we sat and talked/ate/played and skated with little Miles for a while and God broke my heart for them.
There’s a line in the Hillsong United’s tune Hosanna that begs “Break my heart for what breaks Yours.”
My Abba Father reminded me of how much I do have.
Nights like those are the ones that prove to me that God answers prayer and has a bigger scope of vision than I do. His viewpoint takes simple things like talking to someone with nothing, and using that encounter to make the largest impact on our lives.
Heaven Fest is part of a movement of people that have a thirst for the presence of God and a hunger to see revival come to the Rocky Mountain region. This movement goes way beyond this one-day event and continues all through the year as people answer the call and begin to pray for God’s will on earth, just as it is in Heaven. As people begin to get on their knees to pray and seek the face of Lord, humbling themselves, and turning from their wicked lifestyle. “We pray Lord that you would heal our land, heal our cities and heal our states.”
Oh father. Oh Father. Oh Father. Father… I am ready! Won’t you let it begin!? Cause I am here now. I want to taste it- the mighty pull of your hand!”
-Paramore
(I prayed for a long time that they would not get swallowed up in fame. I found a video of them adding these lyrics to a song they wrote about persecution entitled “Let The Flames Begin”)Click Here 4 Video
The whole reworking of the song is really epic also, and i believe Mark, Carlos, sean, josh and Zach would appreciate it’s musicality. Judifree and Bridget love paramore too!
This is a pic of a tat that is on Brian Head Welch (Former Korn guitarist who was saved by Christ and who also is COVERED in rad tats about Christ)
This stands out so much compared to the regular tribal art i see everywhere. I like the white ink especially.
I’m not into fads as much as i am into inspiring them. I Enjoy dressing peculiar. Not to call attention to myself, but rather to give and express creativity.
So i’ve been contemplating a few Tattoo Ideas even though normally I have steered clear of this modern fad.
I’ve certainly found something personal enough to want to explain to my great grandkids- and also an idea that really has nothing to do with anything but my overwhelmingly carnal, fleshly, tasty desire for cheesy treats.
TOP TAT ideas:
I could make it seem serious…
A school of Fuel.
The last one is an album cover for Brave Saint Saturn.
The astronaut pictured is badly beaten up, but erect and determined to endure. The album was entitled “The Light Of Things Hoped For” and the signature line was “The Bravest Thing of All Is Always Hope”
This would be a large piece on my ribs or inner-right arm. I would get it without the background.
I’m not asking for advice, council or an artist recommendation, but i am asking for donations since tats are not as cheap as the fishes or albums themselves. ; )
I have a very important birth anniversary coming up on the 30th of July.
I will be honest. I have researched and if anyone feels compelled here’s my list!
Koala Cookies!
I used to eat these when i was a young lad and haven’t tasted of their chocolate-ey yumminess in about 15 years. Someone, anyone! Re-introduce me to my tasty friends!
What is a birthday other than an awesome excuse to be blessed with your heart’s desires?
18-22 Even the first plan required a death to set it in motion. After Moses had read out all the terms of the plan of the law—God’s “will”—he took the blood of sacrificed animals and, in a solemn ritual, sprinkled the document and the people who were its beneficiaries. And then he attested its validity with the words, “This is the blood of the covenant commanded by God.” He did the same thing with the place of worship and its furniture. Moses said to the people, “This is the blood of the covenant God has established with you.” Practically everything in a will hinges on a death. That’s why blood, the evidence of death, is used so much in our tradition, especially regarding forgiveness of sins.
23-26 That accounts for the prominence of blood and death in all these secondary practices that point to the realities of heaven. It also accounts for why, when the real thing takes place, these animal sacrifices aren’t needed anymore, having served their purpose. For Christ didn’t enter the earthly version of the Holy Place; he entered the Place Itself, and offered himself to God as the sacrifice for our sins. He doesn’t do this every year as the high priests did under the old plan with blood that was not their own; if that had been the case, he would have to sacrifice himself repeatedly throughout the course of history. But instead he sacrificed himself once and for all, summing up all the other sacrifices in this sacrifice of himself, the FINAL solution of sin.
I thought to myself today, “The Bible would be so much more appealing to me if it were in song form. Then i could just memorize it by listening all the time…”
I thought this was a very lazy and selfish wish. It takes all the work out of learning the Gospel…
But then I saw this video about Holy Hip Hoppers who basically just use every lyric they write to proclaim the Gospel to anyone listening.
I still need to quiet my life down, slow it up a bit, and read my word. That will not change.
But i do have some brothers out there who are seeking to clarify and educate through a medium that i can take on the go, and bump in my car. I cannot object to that!
I want someday to be excellent at what God has put me here for – not unlike the gentlemen who work together in these videos to create the phenomenon known as MuteMath. Not that everyone’s purpose is to be a genius musician or artist… but
at this point in time, I’m average at best in all my efforts. I would rather not be “a jack of all trades and master of none” but God is the master, and i’m only his servant. Plus, this way (Serving him in many areas) i get to experience more varied adventures and don’t run as high a risk of stardom.
I must keep in mind that when the Son appears, the stars will fade.
